Gardening in Fuengirola: looking after plants in pots
Plants in pots have a hard life in summer. They dry out much faster than plants in the ground, and the heat from walls and tiles on a terrace adds to the stress. A simple drip system with a timer, the right pot size and a good potting mix make a big difference.
- Move pots into light shade in July and August if you can.
- Use a good-quality potting mix that holds moisture well.
- Repot plants every two or three years, in spring.
- Fit a small drip kit with a timer if you leave your terrace for weeks at a time.
